The Waukee Nitrogen/Methanol System precisely controls the flows of Nitrogen and Methanol for the generation of synthetic Endothermic gas within a furnace. The system features Waukee Valve-Tronic Flo-Meters with an electronic control unit designed specifically for use with the Valve Tronic units.


The System has:

Options:

  • Two signal beacons, 1 red, 1 amber mounted on top of control box

  • Digital display of both the set point and process flow (may be retrofitted)

  • Purge totalizer, totalizes purge flow to a preset volume before restart. Requires nitrogen Flo-Meter with Waukee-Tronic head (may be retrofitted)

  • Combination digital display and purge totalizer. Requires nitrogen Flo-Meter with Waukee-Tronic head (may be retrofitted)

  • Debubbler unit, removes nitrogen bubbles in liquid methanol. For use with nitrogen pressurized methanol supplies

Quality Certification:

Quality certification requires documentation of both process used and of the parameters of the individual runs. The Waukee Nitrogen/Methanol Control System provides critical process data for use with data loggers, PLC's, and computer systems to develop and present the needed documentation.

Safety:

Safety was a key factor in the design of the Waukee Nitrogen/Methanol Control System. The system provides both a manual and automatic purge for compliance with NFPA 86C safety standards (6-7.1.4.3.1 and 6-7.1.4.1)

Lower Costs:

The Waukee Nitrogen/Methanol Control System saves money in several different ways. It requires a lower initial investment versus PLC or computer based systems. The Waukee-Tronic and Valve-Tronic Flo-Meters featured on the system provide more efficient use of gas. The comprehensive diagnostics package lowers maintenance costs by alerting the operator of potential alarm conditions and reducing down time when a problem occurs.

Operation:

The Waukee Nitrogen/Methanol Control System provides for easy operation and automatic adjustment of the process nitrogen and methanol flows. A purge warning is activated if there is any deviation from process set point. Automatic purge occurs under several conditions: furnace temperature goes below 800F, nitrogen pressure drops below 20 psig, loss of process nitrogen or methanol, and if purge warning is not corrected within customer specified time. The Waukee Nitrogen/Methanol Control System also provides four operating modes:

Nitrogen/Methanol Auto: Used for normal start up and operating conditions. If the furnace doors are opened while in the mode, both the process nitrogen and methanol flows go to high set point.

Nitrogen/Methanol High: Used to increase the rate at which the furnace is brought up to proper atmosphere. Both process gases operates at highset point.

Nitrogen High/Nitrogen Auto: Used to provide a protective atmosphere during a holding cycle. Process methanol flow goes to zero. If the furnace doors are opened while in the mode, the process nitrogen goes to high set point and the methanol flow remains at zero.
